Watercolour practice

Today’s practice involved watercolour paints. New Mijello water colours, all the way from China via Ali Express. They are amazing, but I couldn’t get the same effects as on the Moyra tutorials. More practice needed.

These are all stamped using the Lina Make Your Mark 05 plate – I sometimes forget how awesome these plates are. The only downside is they don’t quite fit all the way at the sides and from top to bottom, so I’ve had to add bit on to all of the above patterns.

The two nails at the sides have been stamped in Moyra foil stamping polish in black and then chromed and shiny top coated, the left one is a Magpie gold chrome, and the right a Magpie green chrome. I’ve also marbled the bases using the water colour paints on these two nails, but I started from TGB turquoise, which was a bit dark to show up the true marble effect.

Then in the middle I’ve used the foil stamping polish again, matte top coated, and then watercolour painted the inner parts. These are all on a neutral / nude colour from Xeijayi. I’m trying to get as close to Moyra Supershine in Pearl as it’s such a tiny pot it won’t take long to completely run out. At £7.90 for 5ml it’s a lot of money, for a little gel paint.

The Mijello paints cost me £27.00 and I got 1/2 pan each of 48 different colours in a pallet. Compared to the £50 for 33 colours from Moyra, I think it’s a much better price and I will be using these more over the coming practice sessions. A little goes a long way, so I’m expecting these to last me for a long time.

Just need to do some watercolour training now to get a bit better at using them.

TTFN!
