Stamping, Spider Gel, Marbling and Sugaring

Stamping, spider gel, marbling and sugaring

Today’s little practice. This might be it for a couple of days as I’ve got three night shifts coming up on the bounce. One my regular shift and two overtimes. Gonna be cream-crackered.

On the left, a Moyra tutorial (surprising I know). CJP Old Lace base.

This is a different marbling technique, where the colours are marbled together on a palette, then spread thinly, then picked up with a stamper and stamped onto the nail. The result is a very thin and random pattern, which looks great.

Grey and white smart stamping polish is mixed together to give a lighter grey, and an all over stamp is selected and stamped over the nail. Then smaller individual stamps in the grey are added to the design.

This is then top coated in matte and silver spider gel added over the design in the top corner. Once cured, a small gem stuck on the spider gel with fixing gel and caviar beads added either side. Love this, and can’t wait to try it in other colour combinations.

The middle nail, was included in the design set, but not shown how to do it in the tutorial, so I winged it. CJP Tiger Lily for the base colour, top coat added and glittered before curing. I used Lecente Trinket Glimente glitter, which may have been too fine, as it looks totally overloaded with the glitter, but not too bad the following day.

On the right I decided to play with the silver spider gel and the marbling technique. The marble looked awful, and I went a bit nuts with the spider gel. Good to practice both though.

My nails - thumb design

Lastly, I need to do my own nails, so today I did my thumb.

This is based on another Moyra tutorial:

It’s the Old Lace base, with water decals for the flower and the text. I top coated this in matte, and it really looked great. Then I stamped the bottom part and added a sticker for the line.

To make the sticker smooth, I added a thick layer of Give Me Strength in clear – at which point the text and flower lost all definition. So I messed about with adding shiny top coat, then matte, then filed the top bit down and blurgh – what a mess.

Finally I added the gem and caviar beads. On the tutorial this is all in rose gold and looks amazing. On mine, not so much.

It looks better in real life than on the photo above – I really struggle to take good photos of my own nails. I’ll keep working on it. I can see massive improvements in my crystals and stamping so I’m sure I can improve this over time too.

Time to feed the kids before work.
