Reverse Nail Stamping

Reverse Nail Stamping

Reverse Nail Stamping

I decided to have a go at reverse nail stamping today, as it is something that looks amazing, but I’ve been putting off, just in case I was shit at it. Newsflash! I was. But it’s only the first attempt and there is a whole lot of time available for me to practice.

So, top row. I decided to use the Moyra Norka’s Garden stamping plate and use the black stamping gel for the outline. I decided to use gel polish for the reverse stamping – but this did not work. I need to watch tutorial video’s on YouTube to figure out how to do this for tomorrow’s attempt.

For the first design, I cured fully on the stamper and when I tried to apply to the nail – it was rock hard and straight, and would not curve to the nail shape. Oops. So top left, is the first

attempt, without a nail. For the 2nd attempt I part cured the design, applied to the nail and then fully cured. It didn’t really work and there was so much left on the stamper that the 3rd top nail tip is what remained on the stamper, with the black outline reapplied over the top.

Top right is the last attempt – for this one I stamped the black outline in the gel and fully cured on the nail tip. Then I painted the green stem and yellow flower on the nail and cured. For the white I mixed white gel with base coat to give it a less opaque appearance so that the black lines showed through, and it’s passable, but not the look I was going for. Then I gave up and decided to try something else.

The 2nd row is a comparison of Magpie Chrome AB on different foil stamping gel polish.

2nd row left: This is using the clear foil stamping polish. It’s faint and discreet, but very twinkly in the light.

For the 2nd nail tip in this row, I used the white foil stamping polish, the third tip is over the rose gold, and for the final option, this is over the black. The black gives a really green finish. I think rose gold is probably my favourite of these, or maybe the clear if I need something not too sparkly to wear at work.

For the third row I wanted to use a Kads stamping plate I have tried before, but not fully. This is the Kads Immaturity 016 plate. The base colour is Light Elegance Blue Skies Ahead. I really love this plate and look forward to doing more with this on future nails.

The bottom, or fourth row, is another stamping and chrome combo, again using the Norka’s Garden plate.

The base colour for this is CGP Day Glo Pink, but it really doesn’t pick up the true brightness on this picture. I used a 4 chrome palette from Temu for this one. It’s got a nice strength to it, but you really need to rub the excess chrome off to remove it from the spaces in between the fine lines on the flowers and leaves. These are all using the black foil stamping polish to give the chrome finish more oomph.

The first and second rows are Guibofu colours for the base and colouring in on the reverse stamping. The stamping polishes are a mixture of Moyra and MoYou. Not a bad little practice session.
