Practice Session 13th April

Bit of a mix up in today’s practice session.

I started off with nail number 4, re-practicing the design I planned out (copied from Carolina619) on Instagram. I used Temu crystals in Montana blue and light pink. I also added some smaller AB crystals as I didn’t have the right size and silver caviar beads. When I compared this to the design I realised that on the diagram and example pics the crystals are large, but they don’t over hang the nail – which might explain why my version looks sh1t.

For this nail and nail 5 I wanted to try some of the egg shell gels I have from Temu – I used different colours for each of these, but they do look exactly the same.

For nail 5, I again based this on one of the deigns from the practice sheet – the curvy S shape. This time I used Golden Shadow and clear crystal coloured gems. It’s ok, but nothing spectacular.

After this I created nail number three, the centre nail in the picture above. I used one of the 5XL coffin tips I have from Temu and used a different colour gel. I again practised the S shape – to see what it would look like in a much larger design and used the same colour crystals. The shape is great, apart from the top section, which wobbles and has a more straight feel to it, than a curve.

I was going to have the top and bottom parts of the nail shiny, and the centre matte, but I got hooked on painting it all shiny so stuck with it.

The second nail in the pic is the next nail I did. A different but again very similar colour, and this time using a centre piece flame shaped crystal. I’m not keen on this design either. I can’t tell you why – it’s just a bit meh.

Lastly, my practice session today covered nail number 1 in the picture. I wanted to recreate the shell effect that I’ve been seeing and have a polish from Temu, so did one coat in the flat colour, then added another coat which I created the swirls in before curing. It took me 3 coats of shiny top coat to cover it fully and smooth out the ridges.

For this design I went back to the first design, but this time used much smaller crystals that didn’t overhang the nail. Wherever there were large spaces I added S2 sized crystals to fill the gaps. It’s better than the first attempt, but I think the crystals still need work. Not sure how though.

And that’s a wrap for today. TTFN.
