Ocean Set – Hand Two
Chose to complete the Ocean press on nail set today. Didn’t feel like doing it, but knew if I didn’t I never would, and it was a good opportunity to have a second attempt at the two tip method of aquarium nails. Think I was mostly put off by the filing time. But once the first nail was completed, the others followed naturally.

First attempt at the aquarium nail was a fail, but it was a good fail. I tried to use rhinestone glue to hold the two tips together and it didn’t work. The plus to this was that I had completely forgotten to decorate the bottom tip first, doh!
I added stickers to the backdrop this time too, hoping to give some depth to the final design. So the thumb is the aquarium nail again, and it’s the first one in this image.
For this set I used a darker base colour, and different foils, so the overall set is much darker than yesterday’s. It’s a non matching hand. The water bubbles, goldfish and flower are all on the bottom layer. The conch shell, seahorse and coral are on the top.
I stuck the tip at the bottom first and pressed the two bottoms together to create a larger gap at the top of the tank. Today I used a size 0 for the base and a one for the tank. This gave a cleaner finish and was a little less bulky than yesterday, where I used size 0 for the tip and size 2 for the tank. Once it was stuck down I closed the gap slightly as it was massive and sealed, flash curing as I went to hold it secure.
I’ve not been happy with the way the glitter has hidden the stuff I have had at the back, this time I decided I’d omit the glitter and add the glitterquarium fluid with a little baby oil to create a non mixing bubble and just have liquid flowing, instead of glitter. I love this. Maybe moving glitter would be better for items, i.e a waterfall or a witches hat. This one, only the bubble moves and it’s much more in keeping with this ocean set.
Then stickers on top. The foil I used on this set is transparent with darker blue and greenish splodges, like oil slick style. Worked quite well for these nails, but it’s a lot darker. Maybe one hand is nearer the shore and the other is deep ocean.
Here’s the complete set:

Maybe one day I’ll create another hand in each set so I have a light blue and a dark blue set, instead of mis-matching nails. But not sure I care enough really. Time to move onto Halloween horror nails.
