Ocean Set – Hand One
Today’s goal was to complete yesterday’s single nail, or at least one hand. Trying a new technique with moveable glitter – the two tip method.

The middle nail is the one I did yesterday.
From left to right. First nail is using the same foil, but the lighter yellow and ombre effect has all been used up, so this is the last nail I will use for ocean sets. This is the same foil on nails three and four.
I had some sparkly 5D stickers and used these on nails one and four. Going forward, I don’t like how this looks. I like the fish, but the seaweed and corals look fake, so I’d add some seaweed with detail paints to make it look similar to nails two and three.
Nail two I opted to use a different foil, over the light blue cat eye Xeijayi gel. I love how this looks, and the stickers of additional fish and a sea shell, and a few different strands of seaweed, which could do with being a bit brighter – especially the red seaweed strands as they are lost against the background. But I do love this nail.
Number three is the nail from yesterday’s post – view that post for full details on how I created it.
Nail four I don’t like. I like the ombre foil and the fish stickers, but the corals are completely naff. The little shoal of fish, I love.
Nail five is the two tip aquarium nail, created using a size 0 tip for the bottom, and a size two tip for the tank. I haven’t done this design before so lets just say it took me a while to complete. I didn’t leave much of an air bubble, so the glitter in this moves very slowly.
The two tip method really only leaves a very small hole to get the glitter into and this is the duo tone thermal glitter from Glitterquarium, blue raspberry. I watched a tutorial from Kassie Payne, the creator of Glitterquarium kits before trying this and it worked perfectly, using Seabed seal to hold the nail, and sea bed gel to complete the seal and build the nail up to disguise the tank.
Then fill with liquid, add the glitter and seal. File like a nutter to get it into shape, without damaging the tank. I applied a different foil to the base nail before adding the tank, but it’s barely visible behind the glitter. Added some stickers and top coat to finish and bring back the shine. Love this, but it’s so bulky I’m not sure I’d wear it. Plus, there is that much on top of the base tip that it has completely lost any bendability so applying it to the nail is going to be harder than for the single tip nails.
One brilliant thing about the two tip method is that it can be used on much smaller nails and it doesn’t lose the ability to fit to the nail, the tank never reduces the available tip length to attach to the actual nail. Cool little experiment to try out though, and another way to add the snow globe effect to wearable nails.
Next thing to try is the little lights in the nails, to create as thin as possible light up nails. How cool would that be.
