Another couple of design ideas from the Moyra site.

On the two left designs, a base coat of light blue with Christmassy (or any other) water decals, applied using the stamper. These are not the best for this design but they were handy, so they got grabbed. Over the top of this some silver foil applied. Not the foil on a roll, but the foil in sheets, very fragile and blown away by breath. I used fixing gel for the first one, but moved on to Give me Strength clear for the second, applied using a fine brush.

These are then top coated and white irregular stripes applied over the top. These are then sprinkled with white acrylic powder to give a fluffy 3D snow effect. The gel is then cured, sealing the powder on to the gel, and then excess powder is dusted away. This is the tutorial:

For the second two nails, these are a Mocha Mousse pantone themed design. These are on a JR nail colour base coat – from the Brown set on Shein. Gold film is then crinkled up to create an irregular pattern and attached roughly to the inhibition layer of the gel. This didn’t work so well on these gels so I ended up removing as much foil gel from the foil gel brush as I could and applying a little foil gel to the nails.

Cured the foil gel for 120 seconds and had another go at roughly applying some of the gold foil. It worked the second time.

Over the top of this, the tutorial hand paints leaf shapes. I’m still not the best at hand painting, plus, I’ve got all of these amazing stamping plates, so found a sort of similar design on the Moyra Spicery plate, and stamped both nails with the Moyra black stamping gel.

Once the design is transferred to the stamper it is flash cured for a couple of seconds to prevent it from bleeding, before being stamped onto the nail.

The nail is all still nice and sticky at this point, so I added in the champagne coloured gems, and added gold caviar beads in the smallest size I have to form stems. This is then fully cured to hold in place and then top coated to give a final sticky free, shiny finish.

I love how these turned out, and I love that my skills are improving. I really struggled with the Spicery plate at first, this time, no issues at all. This tutorial can be found here:

Still all a bit numb here after yesterday’s loss of Lil, so we are all making loads of fuss over Phil. He definitely did a couple of laps of the bedroom this morning looking for her, so he’s getting extra pampering from everyone to help with any loss / depression / weirdness that he may be experiencing.

He had a good old sniff of my bed covers last night, possibly sniffing for Lil? I don’t know whether or not to wash them, or leave them for a bit. Do cats like the reminder smells, or will it cause him to look for her, or miss her? Early days anyway for the whole family.

I’ve stocked up on his favourite food and treats and he even had a couple of pieces of ham before on a special plate for him. I feel sad for him too. I don’t think he’s ever not had his sister in his life, even if they didn’t get on very well in the later years. I have literally no idea on cat psychology. Might do a bit of reading up on the subject.

TTFN!
