Mix and Mash Up

Didn’t know what to do today so just tried some things from memory.

I did want to have a mess about with the magnetic gels, as when I tried to create a moon stone effect it went so so badly wrong, so picked out a few of the Born Pretty ones I have (closest to hand).

The magnetic base is on nails one, two and four above.

So, nail one, a greeny gold base with some dark Temu marquise crystals. In between some gold rivets in drop style and some smaller blue crystals.

Nail two has hidden stickers of flowers. When you move the nail, in different angles the flowers are supposed to be visible. Totally didn’t work, so need to re-look at that one again.

Nail three is just awful. Not really sure what I was trying to achieve with the crystals. Round the outside of the crystals I tried to create a frame in foil gel and shape it to match the placement, and then foil it. Didn’t work. The foil didn’t stick fully to the gel and yeah, this one should go in the bin really.

Nail four. Wanted to try some of the mega large crystals I have, to see if I could make them look good. Newsflash! I can’t. This time I surrounded the crystal in gold glitter gel and applied some glitter shards – like little chucks of coloured metal, trying to create a frame. Not too bad, I like this effect, but the crystal is way too large and has too much height. I would catch this on everything, and it looks shite.

Nail five is an idea from the Moyra tutorials website, but without having watched the tutorial. Large glitter circles on top of Luminary base coat. I didn’t remove the inhibition layer and placed the circles on top one by one.

Over the top of the circles I placed a milky white. I couldn’t find one, so I made this from a clear builder gel, top coat and the tiniest bit of white so that it was still see through. I built this up to cover the circles, concentrating the milky white mostly in the centre part. Yeah, wouldn’t wear this one either.

The moral of this story, for me, is to always have a plan, something someone else has created that looks good, to follow.

TTFN!
