May update!

May – a little (giant) update

Massive May Update

So…

Keep thinking I should update the website and suffering majorly from CBA syndrome. Also known as can’t be arsed. I keep putting it off, so, today is the day, and rather than doing separate pages for the different designs, I have decided to do a full job lot.

In here there is a little bit of everything.

Top row, left to right…

  1. New colour alert! – TGB Blue wave with layered stamping.
  2. French – used the stamping plate for this, kept it matte, and then added some tiny gems at the bottom.
  3. This is a Moyra idea – Blue Wave base again – it’s my new favourite, with a couple of water decals. Matte base.
  4. Blue Wave base again, with decals – but shiny this time.
  5. CJP French Lilac with gold foil stamping.
  6. CJP Toxic base with stamping which has been foiled. Base over the colour is matte, but shiny top coat added to the foiled parts.
  7. Blue base – not sure which, with one of the Moyra sparkly gels that I love, with some random yellow splodgey stamps. Think this was supposed to be on blooming gel – god knows what I was thinking.
  8. New colour alert! TGB Monstera. I’ve wanted this since I saw it in a Christmas nail workshop I did with NTS Training. Such a lovely colour 🙂
  9. Moyra 74 Mini Gel base coat – this is such a lovely neutral – deffo one of my faves going forward. With some random haunted house and bat stamp. I tried to create a shadow effect, but used blue, which did not work.
  10. New colour alert! Sealight from TGB – super pale light blue / turquoise colour. Love it!
  11. CJP Thanks a Bunch with a Temu plate with bee designs. And a little gold gel for the honey drips.
  12. Base 74 again – one half stamped with the October plate, then two thin gold strips – from the stickers. The other side is foil rose gold and I added glitter between the two strips to create a jewelled effect.
  13. New colour alert! Pacific from TGB. Lovely colour.
  14. Light colour base, stamped in an Autumn design of leaves in Chocolate brown, and then butterflies foiled in gold.
  15. Moyra 202 Mini Gel base, with Temu stamps. Foiled the middle one, and chromed the top and bottom. Then shiny top coat.

Phew – that was a lot. Take a breath, and start the middle row.

  1. French design, used stamping pattern to create, added gems at the bottom, and kept it shiny, to compare and contrast with the matte finish in the row above.
  2. This is a design from the Moyra UK advanced stamping course. Animalistic plate, god knows what colour base, and watercolour for the colours on the wings. White dots added with Moyra Supershine Snow.
  3. This is another one from the advanced course, this one used transparent water decal sheets from Moyra to create the dog as a sticker. The course made this look so easy, actually, it was dead hard to get the lines as thin as they needed to be.
  4. Base is 74 again – this is another design from the course, gold pattern with flowers and rose gold caviar beads in the centre of the flowers.
  5. This is Blue Wave base again and this time I’m trying to create a stone from gel. This one is the first attempt. Showed it to G – and she didn’t realise it wasn’t a real stone. Winner!!
  6. This is the second attempt. Above the stone I’ve tried to create 3D lettering in the same colour. This needs practice, but the stone really improved.
  7. Acrygel blend practice. So, so thick. And so hard to spread. Moyra male this look so easy. And it’s so totally not.
  8. This is a tutorial attempt from the Moyra Hungary site. It needs practice as it doesn’t look like it should really.
  9. New colour alert! This is a Studio Gel from TGB – this is Californian. I love this colour so so much.
  10. New colour alert! This is the white Supershine gel. Wanted to see if it is as easy to apply as the web tutorials make it look. Newsflash – it wasn’t.
  11. New colour alert! Central Perk – TGB Studio gel colour.
  12. New colour alert! After Party Studio Gel.
  13. New colour alert! Nailchemy Jingle from the Christmas Mystery box. Super, super sparkly gel.
  14. Stamping design from Moyra UK Instagram page. Supershine Pearl base, stamped with green and yellow circles from the Designer 2 plate, and a design from maybe the Springtime plate? Not sure, sorry!
  15. Little practice. Fucked it up with the crystals. Top half is stamped in white, then added shell colour in Rose from Moyra.
  16. A Moyra Hu tutorial. 74 base, with motifs from the Designer 2 plate in various colours. I love how this turned out.
  17. Moyra UK tutorial, 74 base, with stamps from the Designer 2 plate again. There is also a texture design in the background, but you can’t pick it up in the image. Makes it look a bit more like a sketched design.
  18. Trying the half and half design again. This time I foiled the left hand side. Prefer the one in the top row to be honest.

And… Bottom Row.

  1. Re-tried the 3D effect, this time with clear gel between the colour layer and the stamped layer. Much better, and you can see the shadow now. Too thick though, so need to work on that.
  2. This is the sparkling pastel base from Moyra, with a chromed design from the Silversmith plate and tiny gems added.
  3. Moyra Hu tutorial idea. Circle first, then gradient stamp the floral design. Then add the circle outline. This is the second attempt.
  4. And this is the first one. First one is definitely better.
  5. Just a quick practice, with foil and decals.
  6. Base 74 again – can you tell this is one of my favourites? Gold chrome over the base, floral decals added over the top.
  7. Not sure which base with a fail in stamping from the Designer 2 plate.
  8. New colour alert! #Bling from TGB – Studio Gel – super, super sparkly silver – looks like a foil finish its so sparkly. There are some floral decals on this, but you just can’t see them.
  9. New colour alert! Rave on TGB Studio Gel.
  10. New colour alert! TGB Goldfame. Love!!
  11. New colour alert! TGB Playful.
  12. New colour alert! TGB Mint.
  13. New colour alert! TGB Blue Wave. I love, love, love this colour, so so much.
  14. Base on this is Moyra Supershine in Muse. Not that you can tell as it is totally covered up by the chromed stamped pattern over the top.
  15. Lastly for this super long update, 202 base with floral decals. Feel like this is so basic now. Nails need lots and lots of stamping to look good. I’m a nightmare.

I’ve also done one of my nails – left hand pinkie. Still can’t put gel on them all because of the greenie on my thumb, which looks like it has almost grown out now, but want to be sure after it spread last time.
