Insects in Amber

This is a Vo Tino Tik Tok inspired design. First attempt, so could be improved. I rushed the black outlined border and it couldn’t be fixed.

I used an Xeijai Construction gel to create the bubble and it isn’t solid enough – it’s too liquidy to create the desired lump, so I’d change that, not rush the black and put the caviar beads on last so they don’t lose their shine. Also, a lighter colour for the Amber jelly top coat would give a better effect.

I might even have a go at hand painting the insect, or at least painting faint shadow lines. And I’d seal in the chrome over the inkies with shiny top coat, and then matte by sanding with a fine file. might use a stamp for the oval shape too as I am 100% pants at shapes. Or straight lines for that matter. Could do with some closer inkie colours too as I didn’t have brown or orange in my collection. Watercolours might be another option to consider – and I already have those.

I do love how this turned out though. Vo Tino is an amazing nail artist, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Well above my skill level. On every level.

I used stickers for the insects on this design – found some really good 5D ones in my collection for the next attempt.

Made some progress on my mental health today too. Went for a dusk time walk – saw lots of bats, journalled for the first time in a while, so better than yesterday for sure. Watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers tonight – the 1978 one with Donald Sutherland. Blast from the past if ever there was one.
