Gold Leaf Nails

I am always trying to get the goldest gold nails, using chromes and foil and then today I remembered I had bought some fake gold leaf stuff from Temu or Shein. So, today’s experiment – what does gold leaf on nails look like? And this, is the outcome. Not sure if I could get it to look better or not, I’m sure there are different techniques I could try.

The above nails are all full size, so this may become a full set of press on nails in the future.

The nail on the left is gold leaf directly onto a clear nail tip. The following two are painted over Magpie Honey Bunny, No difference in colour of foil from having a background from this test. All of these nails have foil gel on them to give the foil something to stick to. Although, to be fair, I had a clear coat on my own nails and the leaf stuck to that just fine too.

The nail on the right has two layers of leaf in parts, hence it’s very extreme bumpy-ness. These are so, so shiny in real life. Would like to get the leaf a little bit neater though – but that’s a whole new skill I would need to develop. Just need to get my brain working on how I could incorporate this into nail sets without being too gold – if that makes sense.

It’s like the gold bathroom taps of nail bling. Is it really necessary?
