Nail Challenge 1 - day 5 and 6

Challenge 1 – day 6 and 7

Duel entry today, plus a stamped nail that I haven’t taken a picture of – still not got my camera situation under control.

Nail painting and chrome

On the left and centre, day 7’s effort.

On the left – a neon pigment base – which faded terribly when top coated. This was then chromed, and flower petals and dots painted over the chrome. This was then cured and rubbed with alcohol to remove the remaining chrome, just leaving the petals and dots behind, chrome protected by topcoat. I am using a new triangular petal brush for this. Needs practice, but definitely makes things easier.

In the centre, revisiting the painted swirls on a white nail base. I used a Magpie art gel in neon orange and cured. Then I realised that if I applied pigment it would also stain the orange, so I painted the inner paints in neon green instead – practicing with my fine it line brush – which, I have to say, I love. And I am getting more used to every day.

The orange looks nice and uniform in colour but the green is definitely patchy. Happy with the swirl lines, and seeing an improvement in painting skill which is also great.

For day 6 and on the right, this is hand-painted flowers, with yellow and black dots for the centres. I could wear this, but happy to practise and get the flowers looking a bit more flowery. This is an idea from the JN Nails you tube page, although adapted lightly. I’ve used a pre-coloured tip, so not having to paint the nail base, saves time and money on gels.

I also had to repair one of my nails, so opted to stamp on to it using stamping polish from MoYou. Despite using a clear stamper I totally misplaced this the first time round and had to rub it off and do it again to get a more central position. I chose a sparking champagne coloured IBD gel-pot base colour, and stamped in a shimmery polish that is a little bit lighter and more silvery. It’s a very subtle effect.

I really need to do Halloween nails now until the date, as soon it will be all over, and on to bonfire night and Xmas nails.

Working tomorrow, so inevitably going to be tired, but hopeful I can paint nails in the evening to relax.
