Challenge 1 – day 5
Good to back playing today.
Thought I would revisit the icicle nail – in the tutorial colour scheme this time.
I used CJP Doll Face for the base. I think this is a sheer polish as even with 4 coats it was still streaky and had some transparency. Not good for opaque base coats going forward. On top of this I added Magpie Jessabelle flakes, then a layer of TGB Gloss – a sheer pink. Then another layer of flakes, and again with gloss.
Then added a layer of no wipe top coat and buffed, before painting on the icicles. 1st layer in Elsa, then repeat the process and used Stella.
This time I glossed the bottom part and left the icicles with the sugared effect. I think they look lovely.

Next, I wanted to try the French with stiches. First off the solid yellow, using TGB Fries. Stitches added with black gel paint from CJP. For the second one I used colour block with gel paints for the colour and black jack for the stitches.
I did one with the pink base, sadly, I can’t remember which one, possibly doll face again. For the second I used a Guibofu nude shade which was much more opaque and only needed 2 coats.
I still had a bit of time before hubster got home so attempted a pumpkin. I used TGB Vixen for the orange, black jack gel paint, and added chrome. Then I used a dotter to create little black dots and tried a different colour chrome for the stars. I didn’t at the time, but I hadn’t prepped the nails properly, so the chrome bled a little onto the surrounding nail. I used a thin stick and some alcohol to remove as much as I could and added eyes with the dotter and more gel paint.
Happy with those, but always room for improvement :D.
