Challenge 1 – day 2

Day 2 of my first 30 day nail challenge and a quick look on Clawgasmic revealed 2 new tutorials – perfect to try.

First of these is a Beetlejuice nail. I’m using an Après gel tip – bought on sale from TNBL, size 2, medium round. I used a coat of CJP Rocket Man to give me a green base, then added 3 coats of Nailchemy Hawthorn to give it sparkle, topped with Magpie Petal flakes which have a chameleon green / purple shimmer – perfect. Then a layer of no wipe top coat – a cheapie from Temu. Buffed this with a 240 grit buffer until smooth and matt then painted white lines with CJP Snowdrop gel paint, using the CJP Line it Fine brush. Lines are not perfect – but better than previous efforts. Finished with no wipe top coat and I really like how this turned out.

2nd nail is flake French 2.0. For the base I used CJP Bramble Jelly which is a stunning shimmery red – took 3 coats to get the opacity I wanted. A layer of clear base coat for the French part, topped with the Petal flakes again as I had them to hand and voila! One final top coat and done.

For the 3rd nail I wanted to practice French again – used the Snowdrop and topped with a Temu chrome. Final nail is a Temu tip, again practising the French, I but too much Snowdrop on so it bubbled when cured, which actually gave me a nice effect – perfect for Halloween I thought. Added a green chrome from Temu and decided to go one further and add another line of chrome to top it off. Did this is clear top coat and it was hard to see my lines – so it’s pants. Must remember to use a coloured gel next time so I can see it. Gave this a purple chrome finish to go with the Beetlejuice theme.

Then painted one of my nails in a brown colour – Mugshots and Manicures P+ gel from Light Elegance which I added a couple of bear stickers to. I used TGB Dolly for the infill, which I had to buff to death to get into shape. Non dominant hand still needs a lot of work. Not really happy with this one – so not sure it will be on for long.
