Challenge 1 – day 10

A third of the way through!

Today I have updated 1 of my nails with a flower gel. Base id Magpie Give Me Strength Nougat which I really struggled with. I ended up just putting loads on so I could file it into a reasonable shape. I think sculpting with hard gel might be the best option for me – liquid builders I simply cannot get into the shape I would like.

Once I had got the shape I added a layer of Temu flower gel – this already has the flowers in it. Then I moved the flowers around to try and get them where I want them to be. Looking at the pic, next time I’ll remove more of the little sticky bits. I love the colour of this and how it ended up.

Once I had put the flowery gel on the shape was all over the place again, so I added clear builder gel to level it up. Can’t remember if I had to file again at that point, or if I just added a couple of layers of top coat.

I really don’t like the shape – it’s far too bulky, so over the next couple of days I’ll be filing the sides to make it a more shapely and delicate nail.

It looks ridiculous if I’m honest – it’s so, so fat.

Next up, is a glitter fade. I used a pre-coloured tip and added a thin stripe of bright pink which I faded down. Then cured, then added a glitter polish, which I faded up and down. I’ve gone too far up and into the pink which does not look like the Born Pretty look I was trying to achieve.

I then added a pearl / chrome white at the end and faded this up and over the glitter. It looks ok, but it’s not how I envisioned it looking in the end. Wish I was good at art!

And the shaping leaves a lot to be desired too!
