Another Moyra Tutorial.

This is another Moyra tutorial, this time it’s the tutorial Foil nail art richly decorated with crystal stones.
The colour theme on the website is blue, but mine is a purple attempt.
To make the metallic purple I added a Born Pretty metallic polish to a Guibofu purple. I still had a nail left over from yesterday to use, so I was looking for a similar, but darker colour and the tutorial mixes two together so I copied, and it worked.
Two coats of the new colour, cured and set in place, then a third and final coat which has the magnet applied to give it the swoosh in the middle.
The 3D layered gold effect was supposed to be foil, but I tried using foil stamping polish – and it didn’t work, it just smeared everywhere. So I wiped it off and had another attempt using the black stamping gel, but this didn’t work either, the foil would not stick at all. I just used a Hona chrome in the end. This worked well.
For the glitter gold in between the two 3D wobbly lines of chromed gold I used The Gel Bottle Watch Me.
The crystals I used are SS3 size I think, but the caviar beads dwarf them. So I left the caviar beads off the centre nail design. Only when I turned this the right way up did I realise I have applied the gems to the wrong area – they should be above the smile line, not below! Doh!!
On the left is another design from this tutorial. The tutorial doesn’t cover this design, but it’s a part of the set. I used a white tip and painted the original darker purple in a straight as possible square, then added the 3D lines with the stamping gel again. Cured and chromed. And only then did I realise that I hadn’t wiped over the purple, so the chrome stuck to it.
I used a small q-tip and alcohol to remove as much of the chrome from the purple area as I could. Top coated to finish.
For the right nail, I wanted to have a second attempt at the centre nail, with the gems on the right side, above the smile line, this time.
I used a slightly larger crystal size, and it looks too big, and the caviar beads are still overpowering.
I’m going to have to source some tiny beads from somewhere. I also decided to paint a moon on the bottom half in the Watch Me colour. I should have wiped this off and re done it – it’s way too big, and the angle isn’t right, but I do like the shape of it. Well these are practice nails, so I guess, the idea is to practice.
