A Set of Moyra Pop Offs

Today I fancied doing another set of 5, as the last ones looked so good. You can see them here:

So these fit on my nails, so I can use them on my left hand as pop offs and the order they are in from left to right is little finger to thumb.
These are new tips from Nail Order – they are doing their Easter sale and it was half price for the box – so the box I checked out recently was £21.00 – now half price at £10.50. And… you buy one and you get a second set half price so I got the second box for £5.25.
So I got XL tips in coffin and stiletto and today’s version is on the stiletto.
The set above, done previously, I realised in hindsight is the wrong colour base, so today I used TGB Almond – which should have been the colour for the first set too. It is a much better choice. The pinker coloured base in today’s set is Nail Order Luminary – this is an Angel – so like a builder gel – but a bit easier to work with than the TGB ones. Three thin coats to give this wonderful sort of pearlescent colour. I’ve used the Yours Fine Marble stamping plate, and the Moyra Silversmith for these designs.
So, on with the nails.
On the left. The TGB Almond base. I gave the bottle a really good shake before I used it, and it was much better than previous occasions I’ve used this colour. Stamped using Born Pretty Magician stamping gel – I still have issues on getting this to work, but this is a better attempt than previous, so I’m happy with this. So this is stamped, flash cured on the stamper, then fully cured before adding the gold (Hona) chrome. I did this nail fourth in the set, by which time I figured out that the chrome colour I had used previously was too light and didn’t stand out very well.
Matte finish, as I liked the way it looked. I also like the minimalist look of the marble. Less is definitely more and this one does look the best IMHO.
2nd Nail. Was the third nail I did in this set so I wanted it to look a bit different. This is the Nail Order Luminary base and stamped with white, dark pink and white. Top coated in shiny – then buffed – and stamped again with Moyra Foil Stamping polish in white. Then chromed with Hona chrome. I matte coated the whole nail, and then painted the gold lines in shiny top coat to make them sparkle. Looks good – maybe a bit busy. I much prefer the first nail’s marbling effect.
In the middle (centre nail). So this was the second nail I did of the set, Wanted to practice crystals, and wanted to use the Preciosa and Swarovski crystals for a change. I wanted to see if they look better than the Temu ones, and because, hey, these are for my actual nails – so why not use the good ones.
Luminary base, stamped in light pink and marble dark pink and white – mixed together on the stamping plate – before rolling the stamper over. I wanted it to have the same pattern as the other nails, but I didn’t want to take too much attention away from the crystals, so I kept it light.
You may recognise the crystal pattern design – yes, it’s the one I have been practicing over and over again – using Preciosa clear crystal and Swarovski light peach. I like it, but I don’t love it. I might have to try a different design and see if there is a better design I actually like more.
4th nail. So this was actually the first nail I did and the inspo comes from the Moyra Mirror effected stamping pattern on marble base tutorial. I have had to make a few changes, as I don’t have the right plates, or a pink spider gel. So I used silver spider gel, and designs I sort of thought were similar enough. I really would like the Moyra Blossometry 2 plate though, and the Shine On plate – as I love them so so much.
This time I have used the Almond base, marble coloured (white and dark pink marbled on the plate), light pink and white marble. Shiny top coat, buffed, and then stamped in white foil gel, foiled, text added, top coated and spider gel added. The spider gel is way, way too thick, and I decided to add some at the top and bottom of the nail also, why not?
5th nail. The last one of the set – for the thumb, and the last nail I created. Back to the original design, but by then I had forgotten how to do it, so ended up with a thick chrome strip in the centre, instead of the thin one. Used the darker chrome gold again for this one, so it’s a much better contrast and the Almond base again. Over the Almond base I applied one layer of TGB Oceania which is the most gorgeous sparkly blue toned transparent colour – it looks lush, and you can just see a hint of the sparkle on the base coat, but the photo’s really don’t do it justice. It’s way more sparkly and beautiful and demure in real life.
I also managed to achieve a much finer spider gel line – possibly a bit too thin this time though?
I do really love this set, and would deffo wear them. I just need to create a similar set for the right hand.
