The Master Bedroom

God I wish it looked like this one.
Sadly it doesn’t, but it is tidy and has been for a couple of months, which, compared to previous years, is a very big improvement.
Ever since I handed the family back their washing it’s been a lot better. It’s how I would have the rest of the house if I could, but working against 3 other people who just make mess everywhere they go is no longer a job I can complete.
I just don’t have the mental bandwidth anymore.
So, I’ve started with my bedroom, and I plan to make it really lovely over the next year. It’s going to be my little safe haven from the mess.
Today I have cleaned all the glass and all the surfaces and hoovered. That inspired Karl to put my shelves up for me, so around my dressing table I have some more storage space. He’s such a goodun. So precise with the shelves, not like I would have done.
And he’s cut my protective mat down for me, so the top of the dressing table is protected, and should stay clean for a while.
The walls need a paint, the top of the wardrobe needs clearing, the carpet needs several deep cleans, if not replacing completely. The headboard needs a refresh, I’ve lost the TV buttons, and the ensuite is a disgrace – just to name a few things that need doing. But you can walk all the way round now, and there is nothing extra on the floor, so every couple of days I can whizz the cordless Dyson round easily and keep on top of it.
I had a little go at the windows and window frame today. That’s a bigger job for another day, but it’s all clean and shiny again and ready to move forward on.
The rest of the house? Not so much.
Here’s what it currently looks like:
This isn’t all of it, but not quite brave enough to show the whole lot so this will have to do for now.
Here’s some inspo pics of how I hope it will end up:
